وَكَذٰلِكَ جَعَلْنٰكُمْ اُمَّةً وَّسَطًا لِّتَكُوْنُوْا شُهَدَاۗءَ عَلَي النَّاسِ وَيَكُـوْنَ الرَّسُوْلُ عَلَيْكُمْ شَهِيْدًا ۭ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا الْقِبْلَةَ الَّتِىْ كُنْتَ عَلَيْهَآ اِلَّا لِنَعْلَمَ مَنْ يَّتَّبِـــعُ الرَّسُوْلَ مِمَّنْ يَّنْقَلِبُ عَلٰي عَقِبَيْهِ ۭ وَاِنْ كَانَتْ لَكَبِيْرَةً اِلَّا عَلَي الَّذِيْنَ ھَدَى اللّٰهُ ۭ وَمَا كَانَ اللّٰهُ لِـيُضِيْعَ اِيْمَانَكُمْ ۭ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ بِالنَّاسِ لَرَءُوْفٌ رَّحِيْمٌ
وَكَذَٰلِكَ : And thus
وَكَذَٰلِكَ : And thus
جَعَلْنَٰكُمْ : We made you
أُمَّةً : a community
وَسَطًا : (of the) middle way
لِّتَكُونُوا۟ : so that you will be
شُهَدَآءَ : witnesses
عَلَى : over
ٱلنَّاسِ : the mankind,
وَيَكُونَ : and will be
ٱلرَّسُولُ : the Messenger
عَلَيْكُمْ : on you
شَهِيدًاۗ : a witness.
وَمَا : And not
جَعَلْنَا : We made
ٱلْقِبْلَةَ : the direction of prayer
ٱلَّتِى : which
كُنتَ : you were used to
عَلَيْهَآ : on it
إِلَّا : except
لِنَعْلَمَ : that We make evident
مَن : (he) who
يَتَّبِعُ : follows
ٱلرَّسُولَ : the Messenger
مِمَّن : from (he) who
يَنقَلِبُ : turns back
عَلَىٰ : over
عَقِبَيْهِۚ : his heels.
وَإِن : And indeed,
كَانَتْ : it was
لَكَبِيرَةً : certainly a great (test)
إِلَّا : except
عَلَى : over
ٱلَّذِينَ : those whom
هَدَى : guided
ٱللَّهُۗ : (by) Allah.
وَمَا : And not
كَانَ : will
ٱللَّهُ : (by) Allah
لِيُضِيعَ : let go waste
إِيمَٰنَكُمْۚ : your faith.
إِنَّ : Indeed,
ٱللَّهَ : Allah
بِٱلنَّاسِ : (is) to the mankind
لَرَءُوفٌ : Full of Kindness,
رَّحِيمٌ : Most Merciful.
Wa kazaalika ja'alnaakum ummatanw wasatal litakoonoo shuhadaaa'a 'alan naasi wa yakoonar Rasoolu 'alaikum shaheedaa; wa maa ja'alnal qiblatal latee kunta 'alaihaaa illaa lina'lama mai yattabi'ur Rasoola mimmai yanqalibu 'alaa 'aqibayh; wa in kaanat lakabeeratan illaa 'alal lazeena hadal laah; wa maa kaanal laahu liyudee'a eemaanakum; innal laaha binnaasi la Ra'oofur Raheem
أُمَّةً : a community
وَسَطًا : (of the) middle way

And thus we have made you a just community that you will be witnesses over the people and the Messenger will be a witness over you. And We did not make the qiblah which you used to face except that We might make evident who would follow the Messenger from who would turn back on his heels. And indeed, it is difficult except for those whom Allah has guided. And never would Allah have caused you to lose your faith. Indeed Allah is, to the people, Kind and Merciful.
